Abstract: Spherical and flower-like Ce2(MoO4)3hierarchical architectures were controllably synthesized via a facile microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The phase structures and morphologies were characterized by X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared, UV–vis absorbance spectra, micro-Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectra measurements. FESEM showed that the Ce2(MoO4)3hierarchical architectures with distinctive morphologies could be selectively obtained by adjusting the reaction parameters of the hydrothermal process. The flower-like Ce2(MoO4)3architectures showed higher photocatalytic activity than the spherical Ce2(MoO4)3. According to experimental results, the possible photocatalytic mechanism of the Ce2(MoO4)3photocatalysts was proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
