Abstract: Any agricultural company during the period of business expansion faces the dilemma, whether to purchase or lease agricultural land. Such problem entails many questions and related dilemmas that involve different fields of business and permeate the very business core of the agricultural company. Usually, after the agricultural production planning department develops a strategic expansion plan with incorporated range and defined types of land, the board of directors must decide on adoption, while the main part of the work is left to the agents employed by the agricultural company. They must get down to business and find the right location through careful fieldwork and communication with stakeholders. However, commonly there will be more than one suitable location that meets the predetermined conditions for a given planning range. This will put the agent in a dilemma about what is the proper location to be chosen. Thus, agents face several more dilemmas, where the most significant is whether to purchase certain land or to lease it, how to negotiate a lease price lower than the defined Key Performance Indicator (KPI), etc. The subject of this paper is the modeling of a bonus scheme in Microsoft Visual Basic for acquisitions employees in agricultural companies based on a business case linked to purchase or lease of new agricultural land. As the main conclusion derives the stance that the modeled bonus scheme can be of significant benefit to agricultural companies when deciding on the purchase or lease of new land. Using presented bonus scheme, they can simply and easily calculate the amount of the bonus realized at the individual level (for each agent), but also at the company level, after defining and adopting the internal bonus policy, as well as individual and collective KPIs.
