Abstract: The article focuses on software licensing. It also gives an overview of the choices and identifies the resources needed to protect software, and looks at how licensing systems can aid enterprises better comply with licensing agreements and terms. Licensing is a procedure that lets a user purchase or install, and use software on network or machine in compliance with a software vendor's licensing agreement. This aims to protect both the vendor's investment by containing the risk of hard piracy and the enterprise's investment by minimizing the danger of auditing fines from soft piracy. Various illustrations depicting the process of software licensing are elaborated.
