| Abstract: | The author recounts his relationship with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He had his first article published in ACM's journal in 1967 while a doctoral student. In the mid 1980s he became an associate editor of that publication. He served in that capacity for five years, during which matters concerning the acceptance or rejection of papers submitted for publication were sometimes challenging. In 1992 he became editor in chief, a position he believes his assistant editorship prepared him well for. |
