Abstract: This article looks at the emergence of talking books. According to the article, talking books are audio books used to be a format reserved for the blind, elderly, or those with vision problems. It discusses the use of audio books by commuters and travelers for passing the time on trains, planes and automobiles. It also explores the interest of high school and college students in audio books. It references research which proves that using audio books helps students with word comprehension, vocabulary expansion, fluency and overall comprehension.
