Abstract: Abstract: We present the results of the experimental work we carried out to test a solution for frequency planning developed for the Provincia di Roma network of WiFi Hot-Spots. This work is both an example of how the Control And Provisioning of Wireless Access Points (CAPWAP) protocol may help in addressing the issues that arise in the deployment and control of large scale, possibly heterogeneous, wireless networks and a real-world test of our open source implementation of the CAPWAP protocol. Simulations and experimental tests confirm that the proposed technical solution is effective in improving network performance. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
