Abstract: The article criticizes the slow development of Canada's smart grid movement as of May 2011. It claims that the U.S. federal government is spending billions of dollars into making its grid more intelligent. Canada is reportedly the world's fifth largest energy producer and exports about 51 gigawatt hours to the U.S. a year. It notes that effectively moving that power around the country and into the U.S. continues to challenge Canada.
