| Abstract: |
The article discusses a skills gap, primarily in STEM fields, among U.S. students and their international peers. Topics include a survey suggesting that critical thinking and problem solving are deemed the most important skills for new employees, business leaders' criticism of K-12 education systems for failing to prepare students for the hypercompetitive global economy, and the tendency for average workers to be more educated than jobs require despite an increase in unemployment for workers of all education levels. |
