| Abstract: | The article focuses on the challenges regarding the issues of race and racism in teacher education programs. It is argued that a push for new pedagogies of race that address teachers' specific strengths and needs must be accompanied with the demand for recruiting and retaining teachers of color. The construct of friendly-fire racism is used to analyze the racial discourse in a classroom. |
