Abstract: Response to intervention (RtI) is increasingly being used in elementary and secondary schools both to provide early intervention and support to struggling students and to identify students who may benefit from special education. Although research exists to guide and support the implementation of RtI in elementary schools, much less information exists for the implementation in secondary schools, and especially in mathematics. This article discusses RtI in elementary and secondary education, with particular attention to mathematics and Tier 2 services within RtI at the secondary level. The authors provide options and alternatives for the delivery of Tier 2 mathematics services in secondary schools. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
