| Abstract (English): | The multinational Texaco from 1967 to 1992, when it merged to Chevrón, develops oil extraction processes, disrespecting the current health legislation in Ecuador, and implementing technologies and procedures that negatively impact the environment and the health and lifestyles of the indigenous communities settled since ancestral times in the Ecuadorian Amazon. This study addresses the particularities of this process, for which it ventures into the severe socio-environmental impact on affected people and territories with the purpose of contributing to its dissemination and supporting the claim of the Ecuadorian nation. | Abstract (Spanish): | La multinacional Texaco desde 1967 hasta 1992, cuando se fusiona a Chevrón, desarrolla procesos de extracción petrolera, irrespetando la legislación sanitaria vigente en Ecuador, e implementando tecnologías y procedimientos que impactan negativamente en el medio ambiente y en la salud y estilos de vida de las comunidades indígenas asentadas desde tiempos ancestrales en la Amazonia ecuatoriana. Este estudio aborda las particularidades de este proceso, para lo cual incursiona en el severo impacto socio ambiental en pobladores y territorios afectados, con el propósito de contribuir a su divulgación y apoyar el reclamo de la nación ecuatoriana.
