Abstract (English): Focused on curriculum studies within the higher education (HE) field of knowledge, this paper aims to analyze and discuss factors and processes that operate in curricular changes at the university level. We start from conceiving the curriculum critically, as a result of power struggles and disputes where some actors gain ground and others lose it, and frame ourselves in the organizational perspective of the HE to investigate the institutional and disciplinary elements that weave the plot of these processes. We focused on the study of the case of bachelor courses in Biology and Physics in Uruguay between 1985 and 1995. Throughout the investigated decade, two curricular changes took place in the analyzed disciplines, anchored in two different Faculties of the same university. In regional, national and local frameworks, the joint effect of the institutional arena and the evolution of the disciplines in question gave these processes of change different and particular features. Thus, incremental changes were taking place, which consolidated certain sectors in power, bearing a particular vision of training in these areas of knowledge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Centrado en los estudios del currículo dentro del campo de producción de conocimiento en Educación Superior (ES), este trabajo se propone analizar e interpretar factores y procesos que operan en los cambios curriculares del nivel universitario. Partimos de concebir al currículo críticamente, como un resultado de luchas y disputas de poder donde algunos actores ganan terreno y otros lo pierden, y nos enmarcamos en la perspectiva organizacional de la ES para indagar en los elementos institucionales y disciplinares que tejen la trama de estos procesos. Nos focalizamos en el estudio del caso de las formaciones de grado en Biología y Física en el Uruguay entre 1985 y 1995. A lo largo de la década indagada tuvieron lugar dos cambios curriculares en las disciplinas analizadas, anclados en dos Facultades distintas de la Universidad de la República. En el entramado del escenario regional, nacional y local, el efecto conjunto de la arena institucional y el devenir de las disciplinas en cuestión le otorgaron a esos procesos de cambio características particulares. Se fueron dando así cambios incrementales, que consolidaron en el poder a ciertos sectores, portadores de una visión particular de la formación en estas áreas del conocimiento. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Portuguese): Focado em estudos curriculares no campo da produção de conhecimento no Ensino Superior (ES), este artigo tem como objetivo analisar e interpretar fatores e processos que operam nas mudanças curriculares no nível universitário. Concebemos criticamente o currículo, como resultado de lutas e disputas pelo poder em que alguns atores ganham terreno e outros o perdem, e nos enquadramos na perspectiva organizacional da ES para investigar os elementos institucionais e disciplinares que tecem a trama desses processos. Focamos no estudo do caso dos cursos de graduação em Biologia e Física no Uruguai entre 1985 e 1995. Ao longo da década investigada, duas mudanças curriculares ocorreram nas disciplinas analisadas, ancoradas em duas Faculdades da Universidade da Republica. No quadro do cenário regional, nacional e local, o efeito conjunto da arena institucional e a evolução das disciplinas em questão deram a esses processos de mudança características particulares.
