Abstract: The author discusses how global political and economic issues contributed to significant changes in the field of comparative and international education (CIE). Topics explored include the challenges brought by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in addition to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the acknowledgment of individual and collective social responsibility, and the way changing conditions raise concerns regarding the right and access of individuals to education.
