Abstract: The article presents a comparison of groups which are selected for superior and inferior performance in boys and girls. It also states that the ratio of hip width to height within two standard deviations of the mean may not influence performance but deviations greater than this may have a marked effect. Qualitative data have also been summarized concerning health, interest, and participation in activities to study the influence of these factors on motor performance. It also cites that the superior performer in each sex in gross motor activities is less different from the total group in physical characteristics than the inferior performer.
