| Abstract: | The article reviews the national governance and legacy of Mexican President Andrés Manual López Obrador, who is commonly known as AMLO, as he enters his final year in office. Morena, the political party of AMLO, is predicted to maintain control of the presidency and remain the dominant political force in Mexico. AMLO has built his legacy by combining left- and right-wing policies and positions and he takes credit for the economic growth of Mexico and expansion of social programs. He has elevated the armed forces to fight organized crime and violence, intensified the centralizing authority and power of the president, and demonstrated hostility to social movements aimed at expanding inclusivity. |
