| Abstract: | Direct admission programs, such as Direct Admissions Minnesota and Georgia Match, are gaining popularity in the United States as they guarantee college admission based on academic performance. These programs aim to reduce barriers to higher education and have been successful in increasing college enrollment rates and narrowing attainment gaps for historically underserved students. State officials are working to improve and expand these programs, and practitioners from different states regularly share best practices. The article challenges the misconception that getting into college is difficult but getting through college is easy, and hopes that the direct admissions model will help correct this narrative. The author, Rachel Williams, is a content editor and writer at NACAC. [Extracted from the article] |
