Abstract (English): The article presents a dossier on policies and processes for professional development of teachers in Higher Education, organized by researchers from Brazilian institutions and other countries in Latin America. The central focus is the analysis of initial and ongoing teacher training practices, highlighting the importance of professional development in an educational context that involves teaching, research, and outreach. The dossier includes eight articles that address topics such as the training of novice teachers, professional socialization, and policies for supporting new educators, as well as an interview with a researcher from the National Autonomous University of Honduras. Abstract (Portuguese): O artigo apresenta um dossiê sobre políticas e processos de desenvolvimento profissional docente na Educação Superior, organizado por pesquisadores de instituições brasileiras e de outros países da América Latina. O foco central é a análise das práticas de formação inicial e continuada de professores, destacando a importância do desenvolvimento profissional em um contexto educacional que envolve ensino, pesquisa e extensão. O dossiê inclui oito artigos que abordam temas como a formação de professores iniciantes, a socialização profissional e as políticas de acompanhamento a novos docentes, além de uma entrevista com um pesquisador da Universidade Nacional Autônoma de Honduras.
