| Abstract: | This article presents information on books related to higher education. One of the books discussed is "Caribbean Crusaders and the Harlem Renaissance," by Joyce Moore Turner with W. Burghardt Turner. The book explores the anti-racist and anti-colonial activism of Caribbean emigres in Harlem in the early 20th century; pays particular attention to Otto Huiswoud, the only black charter member of the American Communist Party, his wife, and colleagues. Another book discussed is "Collecting the New: Museums and Contemporary Art," edited by Bruce Altshuler. The book includes essays on problems related to the acquisition, collection, and preservation of works of contemporary art, including those in which material deterioration is the artist's intent. |
