Abstract: The article discusses auding ability and its relationship to other test-estimated ability and achievement variables. The author found that auding ability can be measured with logically valid tests, which sample skills in comprehending and recalling the meaning of spoken language, even when tests are not tape-recorded or given by different examiners. It was also observed that auding ability cannot be effectively predicted from listening ability. According to the author, two correlated factors are required to account for the intercorrelations among auding and reading test scores, suggesting that the verbal factor is further reducible according to input channel type.
