Abstract: The article focuses on the faith, resilience and cultural significance of the New Orleans Black Masking Indians as an embodied expression of Afro-Indigenous identity and Catholic spirituality. Topics include the tradition's roots in resistance and solidarity, its ritual practices and sacred artistry, and its perseverance through hardship—from segregation to Hurricane Katrina—sustained by community transmission and hope.
