Abstract (English): This study investigated the development of a Potentially Meaningful Teaching Unit (PMTU) for teaching Stellar Evolution in high school, with the primary objective of evaluating its effectiveness on this topic. Given the conceptual challenges often associated with this topic, the research sought to answer the following guiding question: Can the PMTU promote meaningful learning of the proposed content? Ausubel's Theory of Meaningful Learning, with contributions from Moreira, was used as a theoretical framework. Methodologically, the study adopted a qualitative approach to evaluate the learning results carried out of the implementation of a PMTU to a high school class at a public school in the city of Manaus, Amazonas. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Bardin's Content Analysis. Based on the analysis of the results, it was concluded that the contributed to promoting meaningful learning of the content. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Portuguese): Este estudo investigou o desenvolvimento de uma Unidade de Ensino Potencialmente Significativa (UEPS) para o ensino do conteúdo de Evolução Estelar no ensino médio, tendo como principal objetivo avaliar sua efetividade nessa temática. Diante das dificuldades conceituais frequentemente associadas ao tema, a pesquisa buscou responder à seguinte questão norteadora: a UEPS pode favorecer a aprendizagem significativa do conteúdo proposto? Como referencial teórico, utilizou-se a Teoria da Aprendizagem Significativa de Ausubel, com contribuições de Moreira. Metodologicamente, o estudo adotou uma abordagem qualitativa para avaliar os resultados de aprendizagem decorrentes da aplicação de uma UEPS em uma turma do ensino médio de uma escola pública da cidade de Manaus-AM. Os dados foram coletados por meio de questionários, sendo analisados com base na Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin. A partir da análise dos resultados, concluiu-se que a UEPS contribuiu para a promoção da aprendizagem significativa do conteúdo. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
