Abstract: This article focuses on the evolving role of interpretation in heritage and natural sites, emphasizing the importance of relationships between interpretive organizations and diverse stakeholders both on-site and beyond. It highlights research on enhancing visitor experiences through concepts like eunoia (goodwill toward audiences), preferences for night sky programs, and children's interpretive day camps, alongside a special issue on culturally responsive interpretation of contested heritage. The article underscores the value of involving relevant audiences in co-creating interpretive services to foster meaningful engagement, broaden audiences, and share underrepresented stories. It also discusses how these relationships can influence organizational support and community outcomes, advocating for future research and practice to extend beyond traditional site boundaries with openness and humility.
