Abstract: The article discusses how teachers are likely to be affected by the privatization of education. Some researchers feel that a marketplace model is acceptable to use when assessing education reform and the reauthorization of the U.S. No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) furthers the progression towards privatization. Few for-profit education programs actually operate schools as most are Educational Management Organizations (EMO). Some researchers feel that there is little evidence that demonstrates that for-profit education results in higher academic achievement. RAND Corporation did a study of Edison Schools that found it provided an education that may not be superior to the public schools that it was compared to.
