| Abstract: | The article reports on community-based programs such as water-monitoring programs in Alabama, a program launched for concerns of droughts and issues on the amount and quality of water at present. The author states that participating teachers are helped by the program in introducing related scientific principles such as energy flow, ecosystem, species diversity, and pH. The knowledge earned in this program can help interrelate the sciences learned by the students to the real issue on water protection. |
