| Abstract: | The article presents an overview of research on employee training which has been conducted by the American Society for Training & Development and has revealed that the use of classrooms for employee training has been declining since 2001. A discussion of alternatives to the classroom, including web-based instructional systems and Internet simulation techniques, that have begun to replace classroom instruction in the work environment is presented. The factors which have led to the decline in the use of classrooms in the work environment are examined. |
