Abstract: Studies over the last two decades have greatly advanced knowledge about gay and lesbian aging. These studies have also discovered the challenges involved in studying older gay and lesbian populations. The study described in this article adds to this knowledge by examining the caregiving experiences of this "hidden" population. It describes the research process used in the study, and advocates for the use of qualitative methods to empower study respondents and uncover their unique experiences. It also presents the challenges faced, strategies employed, and lessons learned from the study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
