| Abstract: | The article discusses the preventive actions taken by certified public accountants to address the problems of tax returns and tax-related identity theft, in which taxpayer's personal information such as social security numbers is used to commit fraud. Topics discussed include identification of suspicious returns by the U.S Internal Revenue Service (IRS), reporting of theft to the Federal Tax Commission and avoiding hyperlinks attached with electronic mails claiming to be from IRS. |
