Abstract: This handbook, one of a series designed to be useful to the military and others with an interest in foreign affairs, contains basic facts about the social, economic, political, and military institutions and practices of Cambodia. There are four major sections to the handbook. Section one describes the general character of the society and examines the physical environment and population, the history of the country, the social system, living conditions, language education, artistic and intellectual expression, and religion. Section two looks at the governmental system, political dynamics, and foreign relations. In section three the character and structure of the economy, agriculture, industry, trade, and transportation are examined. National defense and internal security are the topics treated in section four. An extensive bibliography of other published sources is provided. (Author/RM)
