| Abstract: | Information on curriculum development, teaching methods, and research and evaluation needs for communication curricula for hearing impaired pupils is presented in this report of a Melbourne (Australia) workshop. In addition to summary statements of the workshop sessions, the following two papers are presented: "On the Provision of Authentic Language Learning Environments for Hearing-Impaired Pupils" (D. J. Power); and "Approaches to the Teaching of Language to Hearing-Impaired Pupils" (M. S. Hollingshead). The workshop topics include: principles for communication curriculum development for the hearing impaired; curriculum techniques and materials; features of conversational approaches in language programming; features of activity-based learning approaches for the development of communication competence, a list of 24 materials/curricula for teaching communication competence, a list of 22 materials for evaluating communication competence, criteria for selecting and evaluating instructional material, and an article entitled, "Daily Round Communication Activities Collection" (D.
