| Abstract: | To further this professional development of educational leadership, a collection of 133 case studies that illuminate educational administration are presented. The book is intended to promote the idea that practicing administrators need to be reflective administrators. It includes many different topics that administrators encounter, including other administrators, parents, community groups, students, and school personnel. All the case studies are based on the 96 Performance Objectives that appear in the Standards for School Leaders. The studies are grouped under the six standards developed by the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC); these standards dictate that school administrators should promote the success of all students by facilitating a vision of learning, by developing effective instructional programs, by ensuring an effective learning environment, by collaborating with community members and families, by acting with integrity and fairness, and by understanding the larger context of education. The text should be useful in states that are establishing training academies or leadership-development programs for administrators. The case studies were compiled to help contribute to the reflective, performance-based training that future school leaders will need. (RJM) |
