| Abstract: | The recent passage of H.R. 1 by a partisan Congress chooses billionaires over babies, and puts children in unprecedented peril. This Issue Brief describes some of the many ways that H.R. 1 will hurt children in the U.S. and even around the world in the very near term and in the years to come, including that it: (1) Cuts $1 trillion from Medicaid and CHIP; (2) Defunds the main child anti-hunger program; (3) Leaves children behind in tax policy; (4) Undermines public schools; (5) Threatens the child care workforce; (6) Increases funding for family separation; (7) Cancels efforts to address the climate crisis; (8) Harms the poorest children internationally; (9) Will have a cascading effect; and (10) Forces kids to shoulder our ballooned national debt. |
