Abstract: The current study leveraged a large and diverse sample of schools and children to: 1) estimate associations between elementary school-level characteristics (falling within the domains of academic achievement, organization of resources, and school strain) and gains in children's language, literacy, and math skills from the fall of kindergarten through the end of first grade; and 2) explore the extent to which associations between these school-level factors and gains in skills through the end of first grade may vary for children who do and do not attend PreK.
