| Abstract: | As part of the ongoing assessment of AB 705, The RP Group's Multiple Measures Assessment Project (MMAP) regularly assesses the how this landmark legislation effects students access to and success in transfer-level English and math across the California Community Colleges. In addition to overall impact, the authors also explore the enrollment and performance of specific populations to better understand whether this developmental education reform is equally benefitting different student groups. The latest research on AB 705 implementation continues to find outcomes trending positive for special populations, including students impacted by the foster care system, veterans, and those participating in Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) and Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS) (MMAP, 2025). This brief offers a deeper dive into the timely success of students with disabilities in transfer-level English and math, analyzing both primary disability type and gender to allow for a thorough investigation of the policy's impact on these different groups. It builds on prior analysis conducted in the period immediately following AB 705 implementation, providing updated data through the 2023-2024 academic year. |
