| Abstract: | Cross-border education--particularly at the bachelor's and graduate degree levels--serves as both a driver of innovation and a barometer of talent flows in North America. This article compares recent trends in the numbers of students at the bachelor's and graduate degree levels from Canada in the United States and from the United States in Canada, as well as their fields of study. In this article, the Non-permanent Resident File (NPRF) is used to show long-term trends in the number of study permit holders with U.S. citizenship who intended to study at the undergraduate and graduate levels from 2000 onward. The Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS) data are available starting in 2010 and are used to show the fields of study for enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. |
