| Abstract: | This brief summarizes five key lessons aimed at strengthening the support institutions provide to help students in accessing public benefits and basic needs supports. Insights from the pilot learning engagement highlight the potential and the complexity of outreach efforts to connect eligible students with public benefits. Drawing on practitioner experiences, the key lessons focus on: (1) gaps in benefits access; (2) use of multiple outreach tools; (3) importance of technology and communications infrastructure; (4) practitioner persistence; and (5) variation in impact. |
