| Abstract: | This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of "Larong Salita," a game-based instructional strategy, in enhancing the English vocabulary skills of Grade 5 learners. Using a pretest--posttest research design, the study assessed learners' vocabulary proficiency before and after the implementation of fun and interactive word games. Results revealed that prior to the intervention, learners exhibited a developing level of vocabulary proficiency, indicating limited mastery of English vocabulary. After the implementation of "Larong Salita," learners demonstrated a significant improvement, achieving an excellent level of vocabulary proficiency based on posttest results. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores, with a large effect size indicating that the improvement was strongly attributed to the intervention. These findings suggest that "Larong Salita" is an effective instructional strategy that promotes learner engagement, motivation, and retention of vocabulary words. Based on the results, it is concluded that integrating game-based word activities into English instruction leads to improved vocabulary learning outcomes. The study recommends that English teachers adopt "Larong Salita" as an alternative strategy in vocabulary instruction, that school administrators support game-based learning approaches, and that future researchers explore its effectiveness across different grade levels, learning contexts, and larger populations. |
