| Abstract: | This study determined the effect of short-term skill acquisition intervention strategy on hunger reduction among senior secondary school students in Ogun State, Nigeria. The study adopted a mixed-method research design. The population comprised all teachers, principals and indigent students and their parents in the 8 oldest flagship public senior secondary schools in the four divisions of Ogun State as well as officials of the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Three instruments; Hunger Vulnerability Questionnaire, Short-Term Skill Acquisition Training Guide and Key Informant Interview guide were adopted for data collection. Qualitative data was analyzed using thematic analysis while quantitative data was analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, mean, standard deviation and analysis of covariance. Findings suggested a moderate hunger rate among senior secondary school students in Ogun State. Also, the result revealed that there was a statistically significant main effect of Short-term skill acquisition on household hunger among Senior Secondary School students in Ogun State. The study concluded that that short-term skill acquisition has a significant effect in reducing the hunger prevalence rate among senior secondary school students. |
