| Abstract: | Purpose: LinkedIn is a prominent social media platform designed to help users connect, share, and advance their careers. This study examines the impacts of students' attitudes toward LinkedIn usage on their career interest, career prospects and industry commitment. Design/methodology/approach: An online survey on the Qualtrics platform was used to recruit 93 university students of business management enrolled in classes on human resource management who were active LinkedIn users. Findings: Analysis using Statistical Package for Social Sciences software indicated that students' attitudes toward LinkedIn usage and career interest were positively related to their career prospects and industry commitment. Career interest partially mediated the relationship between students' attitudes toward LinkedIn usage and their career prospects and industry commitment, respectively. Originality/value: This study highlights the association between the usage of LinkedIn in higher education and students' career prospects and professional industry commitment. |
