The aim is to nurture the growth of ICME by highlighting barriers (technical, cultural, and economic) and highlighting the need for data and infrastructure that currently exists. A vision of ICME spanning material science from basic research to integration in real design and manufacturing systems is projected. The keys to the realization of the vision are proposed by the editors, Terry Wong, Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne, and Dr. Steven Arnold, NASA Glenn Research Center.
