Description: The second publication in a series intended to showcase the scholarship presented at the 18th annual American Men's Studies Association (AMSA) conference, held March 25-28, 2010 in Atlanta, GA. This volume includes 11 chapters divided into 4 sections: Psychology, Counseling & Men; Men and Sexuality; Men, Space, Representation & Roles; and Gender Systems, Patriarchy & Socialization. With authors hailing from around the world – including Canada, Spain, UK, and USA – and working across a range of disciplines, Growing our Field offers a sampling of critical inquiry into the ways in which the constructs “men and masculinities” are currently being considered in the social sciences, humanities, and health fields. Chapters include explorations of topics that represent both the contemporary forefront of Men and Masculinities studies such as technomasculinity and American humor, as well as historically-situated discussions of the works of Araki, Forster, and Condorcet.
