| Abstract: | Natural disasters can greatly impact the physical and psychological well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Experiencing the event is only the beginning of negative outcomes endured by families. The loss of a home, livelihood, possessions, and a sense of safety can cause depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, and a vast array of other psychological challenges. This article proposes the use of the Miracle Question (MQ), an intervention from Solution focused Brief Therapy, for individuals and families recovering from a natural disaster. A case study example will also be provided to demonstrate the empathetic and effective use of the intervention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
