Abstract: This article focuses on thought disorder characteristic of schizophrenia. A classical feature of verbal behavior in schizophrenia concerns the primary symptom of looseness of association of ideas. Further theoretical formulations that attempt to explain thought disorder characteristic of schizophrenia have proven to be both diverse and wide-ranging. There were no significant differences between schizophrenic and nonschizophrenic patient samples in age, educational level, socioeconomic status, intellectual level, number of days hospitalized, or number of previous hospitalizations.
