Abstract: The article highlights on further evidence concerning the diagnostic accuracy of the Halstead Organic Test Battery. This study investigated the usefulness of the Halstead Organic Test Battery in a clinically realistic task, that is, separating organics from a nonorganic group that includes schizophrenics. This battery and the Bender-Gestalt test were given to 19 organic, 27 schizophrenic, and 18 general medical patients. Results showed that the value of the lengthy Halstead battery as a screening measure of organicity can be seriously questioned, since, it represents no improvement of diagnostic accuracy over the very brief Bender-Gestalt.
