Abstract: Dowry—the wealth that a bride is expected to bring with her for her husband and his family—is linked to oppression, abuse, and violence against women in India. Dowry-related harassment leads to considerable mental health issues and trauma among the victims. The present study investigates the mental health issues of dowry harassment survivors. For this, a multi-level mixed method study was adopted. The qualitative study entailed interviews with dowry harassment survivors (16 participants) and the quantitative study surveyed people who were connected to them (186 participants). The study revealed that dowry harassment survivors have severe mental health concerns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
