Abstract: Understanding the inclusion of Black and African American women as a focus in professional counseling literature is imperative to reducing bias and discrimination within the field. This content analysis examines all articles published in American Counseling Association journals (N = 22) from 2000 through 2022. Articles included all that focused on Black and African American women as equal or majority participants or as the main topic of the article. Overall, professional counseling literature lacks representation for this population, publishing 53 articles across the span of 23 years. Main contributors to published articles include the Journal of Mental Health Counseling, the Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development, and the Journal of Counseling and Development. We provide publishing trends, areas of focus, types of research, and a call for action. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
