| Abstract: | In this article we outline an approach to coaching psychology that draws upon two major fields of empirical research: character strengths and mindfulness. We define these two areas in ways relevant to coaching psychologists and examine how they have been brought together in a coherent and empirically validated group programme- Mindfulness Based Strengths Practice (MBSP, Niemiec, 2024). Having outlined the content of MBSP, we then briefly review the evidence of its effectiveness, and go on to explain how coaching psychologists could adopt the ethos and interventions of MBSP for one-to-one coaching. This adaptation lends credibility to the work of the coaching psychologist by offering an evidence-based toolbox of skills, knowledge and insights, that informs the entire arc of the coaching enterprise, from how we describe our services to how we conduct coaching sessions, and beyond.
