Abstract: The article discusses the participation of psychiatrists in deciding whether patients with alcohol liver disease (ALD) should undergo liver transplantation and predicting the medical outcome in patients in Great Britain. Psychiatrists play a vital role in deciding whether an ALD patients should undergo transplantation because of the possibilities of changes in quality of life. Assistance coming from psychiatrists are necessary to achieve a satisfactory result and predict potential post-operative outcome of the transplantation. This article suggests that transplant units should incorporate psychiatric services into their routine procedures and costs.
