Abstract: The article discusses a study on how disrupted-in-schizophrenia-1 affects prefrontal cortical function. An analysis of the scans of 53 subjects that consisted of 27 Cys704 carriers and 26 Ser704 homozygotes revealed bilateral activation among all subjects during the verbal fluency task, with Ser704 subjects showing greater activation than Cys704 carriers. It is concluded that the activation in Ser704 subjects was a manifestation of less efficient prefrontal function.
