| Abstract (English): | The editorial article of the magazine "Tiempo de Paz" analyzes the European constitutional crisis, the financial crisis, Brexit, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine as factors that have generated uncertainty in the European Union. Despite this, it is considered that these phenomena have strengthened European integration. The question of whether Europe's presence should be strengthened or reduced in these circumstances is raised, and it is argued that the European Union should strengthen itself as a useful tool for the progress of European peoples. In addition, the importance of Spain's presidency in the European Union is mentioned, and topics such as European sovereignty, migration, and economic and monetary union are reflected upon. The need to strengthen the European Union as a global actor and a factor for peace is also highlighted. German President Scholz proposed strengthening European sovereignty to meet the demands of the 21st century, promoting a geopolitical Europe that includes the Balkans, Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia. However, this vision does not have European consensus or Franco-German support. Other topics addressed in the article include the possibility of reversing Brexit, the strategic role of cultural diplomacy, the need to update healthcare reform in Spain, the importance of redistributive policies and social justice, digital sovereignty for Europe, and the change in the EU's strategic-political relations with countries in the Global South.
