| Summary: | Located on the edges of the great metropolis São Paulo, the city of Mogi das Cruzes (SP) performs a spectacular “Festa do Dívino Espírito” celebration. This present article focuses on the tensions and liminalities that emerge on celebratory days. Two female images are placed in perspective towards the "magic mirror": Nhá Zefa and Our Lady of Aparecida. In addition, the article explores some apparently hidden elements that arise as a transforming force during celebration days. |
